What are Supervised Visitations?
Supervised Visitation allows parents in high conflict or high risk situations access to their child(ren) in a monitored and safe environment. The visiting parent has access to the child only when supervised by a neutral third person. Supervised Visitation is also used to protect children from potentially dangerous situations while allowing parental access and providing support for the parent/child relationship.
What is the Intake process?
*The intake process must be completed by both parents before a visitation can be scheduled. An Intake interview is scheduled where each parent and monitor will meet and discuss the case in detail, go over all completed paperwork, fees, guidelines, and schedule an upcoming visitation schedule for the parents, following the court order. Intake interviews are conducted with BOTH parents separately and should take 25-35 minutes to complete.
How & when should monitors be paid for visitation?
A cash payment is paid to the monitor at the beginning of each visit. The monitor will supply a receipt for all services provided.
What is observed and documented during visitation?
A written record of each contact and visit including the time, date, location, all parent-child contact, mood of the parent/child(ren), and each activity performed. Observations of child and visiting parent’s physical and mental state. Any reminders of the guidelines from the monitor to the non-custodial parent (redirects), whether or not the visit was terminated and details of the termination. How the visitation ends and dropoff/pickup details by both parents must also be documented.
How are Dropoff/Pickups done?
*The custodial parent and non-custodial parent are met separately in different locations. Under NO circumstances is the visiting parent allowed to follow the monitor to dropoff the child(ren) back to the custodial parent. Typically, the monitor will meet the custodial parent and child(ren) at a designated location 10 minutes before the visitation begins. The monitor will then meet the visiting parent at a different designated location. Ten minutes prior to the visitation ending, the monitor will let the visiting parent know it is time to start wrapping up the visit. Once the visit is completed, the monitor will dropoff the child(ren) to the custodial parent.
